We’ve all been there. You need to get that report printed out quickly and on your manager’s desk by 10am but oh wait… the printer has jammed! In a rush, you try pulling the paper out… and now it’s torn and the remaining half is still stuck in the printer. Uh oh!
Fortunately, the world isn’t over yet and you might just have time to fix it, so we’ll stop rambling and get straight on with it.
How to Fix a Paper Jam
Help, The Paper is Jammed in the Paper Output Slot or Rear Tray!
Slowly pull the paper out from either the Rear Tray or Paper Output Slot.
If the paper tears and there is a piece remaining inside the printer, open the Top Cover and remove, though note that it’s important not to touch any of the components inside the printer.
Once all paper has been removed, close the Top Cover (if applicable) and turn the printer off.
Wait 30 seconds and then turn the printer back on.
If you can’t pull the paper out, try turning the printer off and then back on again as this may automatically eject it.
If you are still unable to remove the paper, open up the Rear Cover and be careful not to touch the transport roller or any other components inside the printer.
Pull the paper out slowly
Close the Rear Cover
Reload the Paper and press the Resume/Cancel button.
Position the Paper Guide correctly when printing from the Rear Tray as the paper won’t feed through properly if it is incorrectly positioned.
If you are still unable to remove the paper, you may need to call your service provider or DMS if you work with us.
